Prince Valiant - The Complete 65 Episode Series, the 1992 animated series in which Anna voiced Lady Morgana in three episodes, is being re-released on DVD by Mill Creek. It co-stars Robby Benson, Tim Curry, Alan Oppenheimer, James Avery, and Efram Zimbalist Jr. The new collection comes on 5 double-sided discs, and is presented in full-screen. Bonus materials include an interview with voice artist Noelle North and writers Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens, and commentary tracks on 4 episodes by North, creator/producer David J. On July 20, Marc Heustis will present "Sparkle, Patty, Sparkle!", a gala tribute to Anna at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco, CA. The event includes a live interview with Bruce Vilanch in which they'll discuss winning the Oscar for her portrayal of Helen Keller, writing two best-selling books, and her recent stage triumph in "Wicked!" The event will also include screenings of "The Miracle Worker" and "Valley of the Dolls," career clip reels, a sing-along to the theme song of "The Patty Duke Show," and performances by Connie Champagne and Matthew Martin. The gala begins at 6PM with a meet & greet reception followed by the main event at 8PM. Tickets are $30 for the gala, and $60 for the Meet & Greet with preferred orchestra seats at the gala. The Patty Duke Show is on TV again! DirecTV's World Harvest Television channel is airing the show at 4:00PM (EST), restored and completely unedited (with the exception of the beginning credits). There is only one commercial per break, adding an extra 2-3 minutes per episode than when it aired on Nick-at-Nite. Additionally, visit World Harvest TV to watch a live feed online (meaning you can only watch the show at the same time it is broadcast on TV).

On October 4, Anna received a Woman of the Year Award, presented to her by Operation Hope.
On October 11, Anna attended the Idaho Women in Film Festival. The event featured workshops, shorts and documentaries that written, produced, directed and acted by and/or about women. All proceeds benefited the Women's Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Among the films screened were My Sweet Charlie, The Miracle Worker, and Valley of the Dolls.
Anna's new film, Love Finds a Home, is expected to air in April, 2009.

Anna's new pilot, currently in post-production, is entitled Throwing Stones, and co-stars Lolita Davidovitch (who worked with Anna in Harvest of Fire). If the pilot sells, the series will ONLY air on the Canadian Channel, CBC. If it does well, it will hopefully be sold to the US market, as well. It will be a half-hour drama. Anna has just completed filming a pivotal role in Love Finds a Home, the eighth and final installment of the popular 1800s romance saga by Janette Oke. Anna's son, Mackenzie, starred in 2004's Love's Enduring Promise, also part of the series. Anna's film is expected to air in early 2009.

Along with Eddie Applegate and William Schallert, Anna appeared in Burbank, CA at The Sharon & Ray Courts Hollywood Collectors & Celebrities Show. The expo took place from April 25-27, 2007. As her two co-stars were in attendence, it was promoted as a mini-reunion of The Patty Duke Show.
Anna has a small, non-speaking role in her son, Mackenzie Astin's, latest film, The Four Children of Tander Welch. In it, she played Mack's mother. It aired in April, solely on a South Carolina PBS station. Currently, however, it is playing on the festival circuit.
In December 2007, Anna received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humane Letters from the University of North Florida. It was presented to her to commemorate her work in the advancement and awareness of mental health.
Anna is currently in talks to reprise her role from the original 1990 stage production of "Meetin's on the Porch. This time, however, the production will be a movie! More information will follow once it becomes available.

Anna's is scheduled to begin filming the lead role in a new movie, Together Again for the First Time, on June 26 and will continue until July 22. The cast includes David Ogden Stiers, Larisa Oleynik, Joey Lawrence, Kirby Heyborne, Blake Bashoff, Kelly Stables, Lauren Storm, and Michelle Page. Jeff Parkin will direct. It is scheduled to be released this holiday season.
"Together Again for the First Time" is also a play written by a Spokane playwright. She will play the same role as in the movie. It is slated to open in Spokane in late November of this year.

As reported, Anna has filed suit against the Manhattan Ensemble Theater Co. after she was dropped last year from the national tour of "Golda's Balcony." She has accused Broadway producer, David Fishelson, and the theater for discrimination on account of her heart condition. Anna claims her contract was terminated after Fishelson "mistakenly perceived her to be disabled and unable to perform" despite "clear oral promises" she would have the role of the Israeli Prime Minister, Golda Meir. Her suit charges Fishelson "unlawfully profited from her celebrity" by using her name in promotional campaigns for the play even after deciding to drop her.

Jean Byron, "The Patty Duke Show's" Natalie Lane, passed away this morning from complications following hip replacement surgery. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, February 7, in Alabama.

Anna announced today that she will be co-hosting a special live telephone event to share some of her newest initiatives, particularly her efforts to help people coping with mental illness. Anna hosted an awards ceremony that honored Adele Hall, bestowing upon her the first Henry W. Bloch Human Relations Award. The award was given by the Jewish Community Relations Bureau/American Jewish Committee, and recognizes persons for making the community a better place through their leadership and generosity.

The foundation raises money for the Austin Travis County Mental Health Mental Retardation Center, which serves people with mental illnesses, developmental disabilities or substance abuse disorders. In the past few months, Anna and Mike have raised $200,000 for a $7 million, 48,850-square-foot addition to Coeur d'Alene Homes, a nonprofit assisted-living center. Designed especially to house dementia/Alzheimer's patients, the new center, is expected to be completed in less than a year.

William "Poppo" Schallert's wife, Lia, has written a novel! Mary Lou's War reflects how the nature of women has changed in the past 60 years. Straight out of high school, Mary Lou, the protagonist, 17, works at an Army hospital dealing with administrative issues for soldiers who have been broken both emotionally and physically. Lia Schallert will be signing her book at Village Books in the Pacific Palisades on Thursday, August 18, at 7:30.

Anna's a grandma again! Sean's wife, Christine Astin, gave birth to their third child on Friday, July 22. Isabella Louise Astin was born a month premature, however, both mom and baby are doing fine.

Along with U.S. Rep. C.L. “Butch” Otter (R-Idaho), Anna is promoting an effort to raise $2 million in private money to help shield 80,000 acres of forest near northern Idaho’s St. Joe River from development. The St. Joe drainage is home to one of the finest fisheries in the country for westslope cutthroat trout.

Anna plans to join more than 70 Western writers for a special book-signing event on Friday, June 17,2005, at the Mirabeau Park Hotel ballroom. The event, scheduled for 7 to 9PM, is part of the Western Writers of America Convention. The non-profit organization was founded in 1953 to promote and recognize literature of the American West. Drawings for free books will be held during the event.

Congratulations! On April 25, Charlene and her husband, John, welcomed a new addition to the family: their first child, Audrey Mikala Gibson. Both mom and baby are doing well.
On Friday, May 27, Anna will be the featured guest speaker at the "Creativity & Courage in Mental Health" Annual Fundraiser for the AIM Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The AIM Center, Inc. is a psychiatric rehabilitation “clubhouse” model facility for individuals 16 and over. AIM provides comprehensive services and supports in community settings ranging from supported employment, education, and housing services to recreational and leisure activities.
Anna has teamed up again with her friend, Ann Looms, and are creating a new line of teddy bears with Boyds. Although the bears won't be ready until later, they will be attending the Boyd's Bears Collectors Event on Friday, June 24 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Bruce Boxleitner will be starring as Shelly Long's husband in Anna's new Hallmark movie, Halloween Romance.
Anna will no longer be starring as Israeli Prime Minister, Golda Meir, in "Golda's Balcony." No official reason has been released, but Valerie Harper will be taking over the part. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
Anna and Mike's daughter, Charlene, is due to give birth to her first child on April 21. Additionally, Sean Astin and his wife Christine are expecting a baby girl in August. Heartfelt congratulations are extended to all!

William Schallert (Martin Lane on The Patty Duke Show) will star as Weller Martin in "The Gin Game," D.L. Coburn's 1978 Pulitzer Prize winner, from Sept. 22 to Oct. 16, under James Glossman's direction. In the comedy-drama, Weller lives in a retirement home and tries to teach newcomer Fonsia Dorsey to play gin rummy. He's not such a good sport when his student learns the game all too well. "The Gin Game" will play at The Bickford Theatre in Morris Township, New Jersey.
Following the tradition started in 1995, Nick at Nite is observing it's 20th anniversary. As part of the celebration, Nick at Nite/TV Land will be re-playing many of the shows they have previously aired, including The Patty Duke Show! On Saturday, June 25, TV Land will be airing one episode at 9:30AM and repeating it later that night at 2:30AM. At this point, no episode description is given, however, it will most likely be the episode entitled "The Cousins," where Patty and Cathy meet for the first time.

Anna will be touring later this year in the critically acclaimed play, "Golda's Balcony." Although the tour schedule has not yet been finalized, we do know that it will be a 26+ week engagement, ending on May 14, 2006. The following cities have been confirmed as definite stops; if you don't see a city near you, it still may be added! Of course, more information will be posted as it becomes available.
2005 is a big year for the extended Duke family! Anna and Mike's daughter, Charlene, and her husband, John, are expecting their first child; Charlene is due in April. Sean Astin and his wife, Christine, are also expecting a new baby. Their third child is due later this August. Anna's nephew Mike and his wife, Kathleen, welcomed Quinn, baby #5, to the world on February 16. All mommies and babies are reportedly in good health.
Anna's 1998 movie, When He Didn't Come Home, is being released on DVD! Under its working title, The Disappearing Act, the movie is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com. The official release date is July 26, 2005. Unfortunately, the cover art has not yet been made available.

Anna's new movie, Bigger Than the Sky, will open on Friday, February 18, 2005 to a limited release. More information will be posted as it becomes available. However, the trailer can be viewed (in Quicktime, Windows Media Player, or Real Audio formats) on The Internet Movie Network.
Anna will be touring the country later this year in the one-woman show, "Golda's Balcony." In it, Anna will play Israel's fourth Prime Minister, Golda Meir. The official tour schedule has not yet been released, but we do know that it will begin in November in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The show was written by William Gibson (author of "The Miracle Worker"), and has recently been on Broadway. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

On November 12, 2004, Anna received a plaque connoting a Lifetime Honorary Membership to The Sullivan Foundation. It was presented as a symbol of appreciation for all she has done to honor the memories of Annie Mansfield Sullivan and Helen Adams Keller. The Sullivan Foundation strongly feels that Anna has lived Helen's message to the fullest: "The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it."

Anna will be released from Kootenai Medical Center this afternoon. She's looking forward to recuperating at home for a few weeks. Both Mike and Anna wish to thank everyone who sent their get well wishes. Anna has read them all and was very touched.
Anna has been named this year's Honorary Chairperson for the Kootenai Medical Center's Festival of Trees. The event is held in tribute to the many sponsors, volunteers, and contributors that have donated generously of themselves, and raises money to maintain KMC's tradition of excellence in healthcare. With money raised from past Festivals, KMC has successfully completed the North Idaho Heart Center (where Anna was treated) and has improved Kootenai County's access to the finest cardiac care. Anna will headline the Community Alliance's 8th Annual "Breaking the Silence" event promoting mental illness awareness. The event's main goal is to eliminate the stigma and myths which surround mental illness, and to encourage access to treatment and rehabilitation services essential to recovery. Anna was recently presented with the American Association of Community Theatre's Special Recognition Award. It is presented to persons or organizations whose contributions to community theatre are far reaching and of a special nature. There ceremony was recently held in New York City from June 23-26 at AACT's National Conference. According to Official Patty Duke Mailing List member, Lisa, the Assistant Director of Anna's new film, Caught in the Act, when Courtney Cox-Arquette became pregnant, she and David Arquette signed over their rights. Also, Caught in the Act is a working title; it will be changed soon, as a new television series is supposedly airing this fall with the same title.

The votes are in: Anna WON a TV Land Award for the "Favorite Dual-Role Characters" category. The results of her other nomination ("Favorite TV Theme Song") are not known at this time. The ceremony is March 17 at 9pm, and will, of course, air on TV Land. It will be hosted by Brad Garrett -- and yes, Anna WILL be there to accept the award in-person.
On February 27, Anna will be a presenter at the 41st Annual Publicists Awards. The luncheon, which is sponsored by the International Cinematographer's Guild, will be held in Beverly Hills, CA. This event will not be televised.

Anna's new movie for the Hallmark Channel is based on The Good Friday Murders, the first book of the Christine Bennett murder mysteries. At this point, it is not known if the movie will have the same title. Anna plays Mother Joseph, a nun who helps Christine solve an old murder mystery. Anna will also start filming a guest spot on CBS's Judging Amy. A synopsis and airdate will be posted when they are made available.

The American Foundation for the Blind's "Access Awards" honor individuals, corporations, and organizations that are eliminating or substantially reducing inequities faced by people who are blind or visually impaired. The 2002 Access Awards were hosted by Anna, and were presented in San Francisco on February 20, 2003.

This year, Anna was given the first ever "True Colors Award" by The Rainbow Connection for her contributions to this year's Cabaret fundraiser. Call Me Anna: The Official Patty Duke Webpage's Co-Webmaster, Bill Jankowski, was asked by TRC's director, Dean Walton, and Anna and Mike Pearce to accept the award in New Jersey on Anna's behalf on April 11. Anna is currently at home, recuperating from surgery that took place on April 3rd. While performing in "Oklahoma!", she injured her right shoulder. There were no complications and a full recovery is expected! It has been requested, however, that fans refrain from sending flowers. We would really appreciate if everyone would respect the Pearce's privacy at this time.
Anna will be among the keynote speakers at the 16th Annual Idaho Conference on Health Care, on October 22-24, at the Idaho State University campus. On the theme "Health Care in a New Era," this year's conference will delve into a variety of topics that examine the broadening dimensions in health care, including mental illness. Dr. David Peck, Lewis & Clark expedition medical expert, will also speak. The conference is offered in conjunction with the Idaho Public Health Association.
